How far from the French Quarter?
Google map shoes that it is 1.2-1.3 miles. Very walkable. I walked back at night because I didn't want to take a cab/Uber/Luft for the 2 blocks that was not trafficky.

How far is the carnival cruise port from the whitney hotel
By uber it took less than 10 minutes even with traffic.....I cruised around this time last month and we stayed there the night before we set sail.

What is currently going on with the bistro/bar that was in the hotel? It seems to not be listed as an amenity anymore, but the picture gallery is still there. Confused. Do they not have any food at all, just free bottles of water?

Agreed. No need for a car. You're close enough to the trolly lines to get most places. Bourbon street and the quarter are not a far walk either. If you're driving in, may want to park long term at Louis Armstrong Airport and uber/Lyft to the hotel. Its 11-16 per day, so much better pricing than the valet.
